The Franklin County Task Force on Aging is a community service and networking association with a mission to assist the seniors of Franklin and surrounding counties. Our members are from companies and organizations that serve seniors with a variety of products and services.
We meet on the second Thursday of every month (except December) at Carrie’s Café, part of the LifeCare Alliance building located at 670 Harmon Avenue. The meeting begins at noon but we encourage our members to come early and order lunch from the Café, supporting our relationship with LifeCare Alliance.
Meetings consist of a guest speaker, the business part of the meeting, and networking.
Each year we conduct several fundraising events to build our Change for Change account. This account is separate from our operating account. Through this account we have the ability to write up to a $250 check (or purchase services or products equivalent to that amount) for a senior in need. See the Change for Change tab for details.
We also organize and manage the Senior Center Collection Competition, which pits local senior centers against each other in a competition to collect the most non-perishable items to be donated to the Groceries to Go pantry at LifeCare Alliance. The winning senior center after a 3 month competition receives a pizza party sponsored by one of our member’s organizations.
In addition, each year we organize groups of our members to go caroling at several of the local nursing homes in Franklin County. We have visited Forest Hills, Columbus Alzheimer’s Care Center, Bryden Place, Regency Manor, and Sun Behavioral Health Center.
Our relationship with LifeCare Alliance enhances all that we do. When our members buy their lunch at the Café on meeting day, the extra income helps LifeCare Alliance serve the seniors of our community better. In addition, the Senior Center Collection Competition brings in one of the largest donations of non-perishable items for the special customers they serve.
